Academic Readiness Assessment

The Student Readiness Office provides you with the opportunity to establish your level of preparation for college-level learning through the use of various academic assessments. While 4Cs maintains activity as a remote campus, remote proctoring of Accuplacer assessments will continue on a limited schedule. If you have a computer at home with an operable webcam and strong internet signal, you can take Accuplacer assessments online from home. Those of you without a webcam or sturdy internet will be able to schedule Accuplacer assessments as soon as on-ground activity resumes on the West Barnstable Campus.

In some cases, placement into English and math courses can be made according to your high school GPA.

  • If you have earned a high school GPA of 2.7 or higher within the last ten years, you may register for ENL101: English Composition I
  • If you have earned a high school GPA of 2.7 or higher within the last three years, you may register for any of the following math courses:
    • MAT130: Quantitative Reasoning
    • MAT150: Statistics
    • MAT120: Math for Elementary Education
    • MAT165: Finite Mathematics
  • Students without these GPA criteria or those who wish to take higher levels of English or math will be required to take Accuplacer assessments

High School Equivalency Program

In support of the community beyond the confines of our campus, the Student Readiness Office is also an authorized High School Equivalency testing center, offering HiSet and GED test platforms. We also regularly administer the Massachusetts Test for Educator Licensing (MTEL). You may follow the links below for more information on any of the assessment tools we administer.

Note: Please be advised that we do not offer proctoring services. For a list of local libraries in Massachusetts that may offer these services, visit Massachusetts Libraries.

The College-Level Examination Program® (CLEP®) offers you the opportunity to receive college credit for what you already know by earning qualifying scores on any of the CLEP 33 examinations. Over 2,900 colleges and universities will accept credit for successful scores. CLEP exams allow people who have acquired comprehensive subject knowledge through independent or prior study, on-the-job training, or cultural pursuits to show that they have the understanding of college-level material.
