Massachusetts Workforce Training Grants

The workforce training fund provides eligible businesses and organizations with employee training grants of up to $250,000 to invest in workforce development, improve employee skills, and maintain the economic strength and viability of the Commonwealth's businesses.

Companies and organizations that are growing with the improving economy or are managing new challenges are investing in employee training programs as a powerful way to increase efficiency, expand into new markets and boost profitability.

The Center for Corporate and Professional Education (CCAPE) at Cape Cod Community College was awarded $171,000 to provide training in Leadership/Management/Supervisory Skills through 2020. CCAPE will offer Management Academy Programs and Executive Leadership Programs, specifically designed to provide and enhance the foundational skills of managers and leaders in the region. The Center for Corporate and Professional Education (CCAPE) at Cape Cod Community College can assist your company as it applies for a Workforce Training Grant by:

  • Providing information and guidance on Workforce Training Fund programs and grant processes;
  • Conducting a training needs assessment;
  • Writing an effective proposal that will help you secure funding to train new and existing employees;
  • Designing and delivering training programs that address specific organizational needs and budgets;
  • Acting as liaison between employers, training partners and other resources;
  • Providing direct assistance and support throughout the grant application and implementation process.

CCAPE can assist Massachusetts employers of all sizes access grants from the Massachusetts Workforce Training Fund Program. In addition, CCAPE has been approved to be a Training Provider for recipients of Workforce Training Grants. For companies who have under 100 employees, the Express Grant program is the program of choice. Types of Workforce Training Fund Grants Available

General Program Training Grants: Businesses can apply for a grant up to $250,000. Employers, employer organizations, labor organizations, training providers, and a consortia of such entities are encouraged to apply for funds to train current and newly hired workers. Training programs must be completed within two years. View general program application.

General Program Technical Assistance Grant: A consortium of businesses can apply for a grant to help develop a consortium application for a training grant. Grants will be awarded for a minimum of $5,000 and a maximum of $10,000. Grants will not exceed six months in length. Grants will only be awarded to organizations that are engaged in designing a training plan for a consortium of businesses. View general program application.

Express Program Training Grants: Businesses with 100 or fewer employees that contribute to the Workforce Training Fund are eligible to apply for an Express Grant. All for-profit companies automatically pay into the fund. If you are a non-profit, click here to learn if you qualify. Grant funds are limited to $30,000 per company per calendar year and $3,000 per employee per course. If approved, the WTFP will reimburse you for up to 50% of the actual cost of training. View our approved course list in the Express Training Fund directory.

Direct Access Program: The Direct Access Program (previously known as Regional Training Capacity Pilot Program) addresses smaller-scale training needs by making training slots available free of charge to businesses that are eligible for the Workforce Training Fund.

Workforce Training News and Information Sessions

The Center for Corporate and Professional Education hosts quarterly Workforce Training Fund information sessions that help companies learn how to tap into the expansive $20 million plus Massachusetts Workforce Training Fund programs. A schedule of Info Sessions will be annouced soon for 2019.
